LOS ANGELES, Sept. 21 (Xinhua) -- As an iconic figure of the Disney(迪斯尼) empire, the 100-old cartoon character Tinker Bell has been remembered with a new star set on the famed Hollywood Walk of Fame in a ceremony held on Tuesday.
The supporting role in the 1904 play "Peter and Wendy" has received the 2,418th star on the world-renowned(世界知名的) sidewalk near the El Capitan Theatre on Hollywood Boulevard in downtown Los Angeles.
Bradley Raymond, who directed the 2010 release "Tinker Bell and the Great Fairy Rescue," delivered a speech at the late-morning ceremony, which was held on the same day as the DVD release of the same movie. Tinker Bell joins Big Bird, Bugs Bunny, Donald Duck, Godzilla, Kermit the Frog, Mickey Mouse, Rugrats, Shrek, The Simpsons, Snow White, Winnie-the-Pooh and Woody Woodpecker with stars on the Walk of Fame.
The character was first featured in the 1953 animated film " Peter Pan," who was depicted as a winged pixie with a very womanly figure. The figure later was incorporated in the opening of the long-running Disney anthology television series commonly known as "The Wonderful World of Disney."(本文由在线英语听力室整理编辑)
