1. At least four people are dead and there is damage in 19 Massachusetts communities after tornadoes ripped through Wednesday. In Springfield, police are going door to door this morning, making sure no one is trapped in rubble. Governor Deval Patrick has declared a state of emergency.

 

2. Cities in central South Dakota may be hit with flooding as excess water is released from dams on the Missouri River. The governor has urged some people in Pierre, Fort Pierre, and Dakota Dunes to evacuate. Officials say flooding in the northern Plains could stretch into July.

 

3. Mitt Romney plans to announce today that he's running for president in 2012. The Republican says he's positioned to defeat the incumbent Democratic president and turn around the country. Romney says Barack Obama has failed America.

 

4. And more than 40 red pandas have moved into their new home in southwest China. The Pu'er National Park in China's Yunnan Province is a new habitat. Officials hope that in time the park will be home to more than 100 of the endangered red pandas.
