But he's demanding that armed opponents stop the violence against his regime. Annan is trying to broker a solution to the crisis, which the UN says has killed more than 9,000 people.
 
 
 
4. The Mega Millions jackpot is now the largest in US lottery history. It's topped 500 million dollars.
