China's Foreign Minister Yang Jiechi has met with South Korean special envoy Kim Moo-sung.

Yang said that China looks forward to a stronger partnership with South Korea.

Yang also said that China supports efforts to improve relations between South Korea and North Korea.

Kim said his visit shows Park's sincerity in maintaining bilateral relations, and that Seoul is ready to further advance the partnership with China.

Ruan Zongze, Vice President of the China Institute of International Studies, said the visit reflected an adjustment in the country's foreign policy.

"While the president tries to maintain a close relationship with the United States, she also wants to take care of ties with Asian and neighboring countries, especially China. She is also planning to improve relations with North Korea on some pre-conditions. The foreign policy of Park's government is more balanced."

Ruan added that the incoming administration of Park Geun-hye intends to promote trade exchanges with China and take part in coordination of regional security issues.

Park, who won the country's presidential election in December 2012, is set to replace incumbent President Lee Myung-bak next month.
