[00:00.30]13.A Tragedy or a Blessing?

[00:04.23]Years ago in Scotland, the Clark family had a dream.

[00:08.36]Clark and his wife worked and saved, making plans for their nine children and themselves to travel to the United States.

[00:17.07]It had taken years, but they had finally saved enough money

[00:20.89]and had gotten passports and reservations for the whole family on a new liner to the United States.

[00:27.96]The entire family was filled with anticipation and excitement about life in America.

[00:34.39]However, seven days before their departure, the youngest son was bitten by a dog.

[00:42.45]The doctor sewed up the boy but hung a yellow sheet on the Clarks’ front door.

[00:47.13]Because of the possibility of rabies, they were being quarantined for fourteen days.

[00:53.34]The family’s dreams were dashed.

[00:56.44]They would not be able to make the trip to America as they had planned.

[01:00.47]The father, filled with disappointment and anger, stomped to the dock to watch the ship leave — without the Clark family.

[01:08.85]The father shed tears of disappointment and cursed both his son and God for their misfortune.

[01:15.49]Five days later, the tragic news spread throughout Scotland - the mighty Titanic had sunk.

[01:24.64]The unsinkable ship had sunk, taking hundreds of lives with it.

[01:30.09]The Clark family was to have been on that ship,

[01:33.36]but because the son had been bitten by a dog, they were left behind in Scotland.

[01:37.96]When Mr. Clark heard the news, he hugged his son and thanked him for saving the family.

[01:45.28]He thanked God for saving their lives and turning what he felt was a tragedy into a blessing.

[01:52.28]Although we may not always understand, all things happen for a reason.
