古巴议会强调经济改革(在线收听

HAVANA, July 6 (Xinhua) -- Cuban legislators met here Saturday to discuss vital economic and social issues at the first annual session of the new parliament, chaired by the country's president Raul Castro.

During the two-day parliament sessions, the 10 permanent working committees of the National Assembly of People's Power, Cuba's unicameral legislative body, will review the economic and social reforms that are underway or to be implemented.
The meetings will focus on the execution of more than 300 economic reform programs promoted by the government with an aim to upgrade the island's economic model and drag the country out of the two-decade-long economic crisis.
The agenda also includes assessing the bill of the new Marine, Fluvial and Lacustrine Sailing Law, as well as the report on the implementation of the Budget 2012.
Raul Castro launched an economic renovation program five years ago, including the opening of private sector, which has already involved over 400,000 workers, and the transfer of land to over 170,000 individual farmers.
Cuba's national assembly comprises 612 members and meets twice a year.
