黑莓面临巨亏 全球裁员4500人

It’s been a while since fashion overtook function when choosing a phone. Once so popular it was nicknamed Crackberry, tastes for the Blackberry have turned sour. It’s the freshest of Apples which dominate shop windows here in Birmingham and all over the world’s.

  -Have you had one ever?
-yeah, I used to have Blackberry.
  -Why not any more?
-Iphones have got a lot bigger screen.
-so everything gets so much easier.
-Yeah, they don't do half of it on blackberries.
-I do like my blackberry, yes
-What did you get out of it?
-I like texting on it. I don't like touch sreen texting, so it's much greater texting on them than on other devices.
-They are just not, just not as good as other phones.
  -And you've had one.
-I've had one, yes.****, not very good.
Back in January, Blackberry tried to reverse its decline with some new handsets. Reviewers liked them but consumers didn't. Piled up in stockroom, the value of the unsold units is around a billion dollars, roughly the same as the company's projected losses.
-But what a different story it would have been just a decade ago, because it was blackberry which invented the concept of email and Internet on the go. It used to control more than half of the market, now though, just 3%. Because most of us now have a different device in our pockets.
It's owned its place in technology history. The traditional keyboard was its biggest distinction, but Blackberry didn't realize in time, the touch-screens with the future.
-They have announced that they are gonna pare back their range from six devices to four. Two of those four will be for the up market business users, the other two will be for the ordinary business users, so they are in fact focusing much more tightly on professional people rather than the ordinary person.
Despite new managements trying to find a new direction, faith in Blackberry's future has been shattered since it was part of a sale last month.
Now its latest profit warning has triggered a massive sell-off of shares, staff at its European headquarters in Slough must be worried.
-This company might not be around next year. So how was consumers gonna buy a phone thinking is it gonna be supported? If someone else buys blackberry, would they want to give me the same kind of level support I've got? So, yeah,it's a very difficult time. You can't be really selling phones when you got awful sell sign hanging over your head.
You probably didn't notice, but this week Blackberry launched another new phone. They will be hoping for more buyers. But being drowned out by the noise surrounded the new iphones, it is a stark reminder that this is a company which itself needs a buyer to save it.
