3. China deployed emergence officials and soldiers to its eastern coast to rescue residents stranded by the typhoon flood waters. Local media reported that flood water rose up to 60 feet in some locations. 
4. And Britain¡¯s Peter Higgs and Belgium colleague Francois Englert had been awarded the Nobel Prize in Physics for developing a framework for how the universe works. Their research developed in the1960s was only confirmed last year when a Geneva laboratory discovered the so-called Higgs boson or particle in a major breakthrough.
