 Up to 25 people have died in renewed clashes between riot police and protesters in Ukraine's capital Kiev. The Interior Ministry says protesters have taken dozens of police hostage. The violence erupted again just hours after a truce was declared. The European Union has announced sanction in retaliation for the bloodshed. 

 
Australian journalist Peter Greste has been denied bail in Egypt. Mr. Greste and two of his Al Jazeera colleagues have gone on trial, accused of supporting a terrorist organisation. The pleaded not guilty to the charges. Their trial will resume in two weeks.
 
A funeral will be held today for 11-year-old Luke Batty who was killed by his father at a cricket ground near Melbourne last week. Greg Anderson brutally murdered his son before being fatally shot by police at Tyabb. The attack shocked the community and put the national spotlight on domestic violence.
 
Former News of the World editor Rebekah Brooks has denied knowing about phone hacking during her time of the now defunct(失效的,不存在的) newspaper. Ms. Brooks began giving evidence at her trial in London. Earlier, she was formally cleared of one of the five charges against her.
 
Up and coming  AFL player Marley Williams is facing a possible jail sentence after being found guilty of grievous bodily harm in Western Australia. The Collingwood player admitted to punching a man outside a nightclub in Albany in the state's south in December, 2012. Williams argued that the act was in self-defence.
