 A low pressure trough is generating showers and storms over central and southeastern Queensland. The monsoon trough over the tropics is producing thunder and showers. They'll be heaviest over the Gulf. 

 
Looking around the country now.
 
Heavy rains and storms over the Queensland gulf. There'll be showers elsewhere.
 
Showers in eastern New South Wales, mostly in the morning. It'll be sunny in the west.
 
Light showers and drizzle should clear in Victoria's south. It'll will be mostly sunny in the north of the state.
 
Mostly sunny in Tasmania as well with some light, clearing showers in the west.
 
South Australia will be mostly sunny with some light winds. Clearing showers on the southern coasts.
 
The odd storm in Western Australia's west and north with warm temperatures.
 
And in the Northern Territory, showers and storms in the north and east. It'll be hot and dry in the south and in the west.
 
Now looking ahead to tomorrow's forecast for the capital cities: possible showers in Brisbane and Sydney, increasing sunshine in Melbourne, fine in Hobart, Adelaide and Perth and light showers on the way for Darwin.
