The Mers virus we have been telling you about its spead. The WHO says  this is not a global healthy emergency at this point. But the threat from Mers has become more serious. Mers stands for Middle east Respiratory Syndrome. The first case was in Saudi Aribia. And you can see from this map, how the diseases has spread. It has reached 18 countries. Worldwide there has been 171  people confirmed cases of Mers. 171 people have died from it. There have been two cases in the US, one in Indiana, one in Florida. Both of them were healthcare workers who traveled to Saudi Aribia. The sober lining here is that Mers dosen't spread very quickly or easily.

Mers, Middle east Respiratory Syndrome has come to the US. The virus was first confirmed in the Saudi Aribia in 2012 and has killed about 1/3 of the hundreds that have been infected.Mers does not spread easily between human beings like the Flu does for example. Words from the public general means low according to the centers for disease control and prevention. It takes close contact to the sick person.Usaually a health worker or loved one to catch the virus. Mers in the same families of the viruses are in the common code, but the reasons why authorities are so concerned  is that there are 30% motality rate. Mers attacks the respiratory system and symptoms include fever and cough and can progressed  pneumonia and  kidney failure. Experts do not know where the virus came from , but it has been likned to infected camels in Saudi Aribia and othere countries in the Middle East. There is no medicine or vaccine to prevent or cure Mers. To help to protect yourself, the CPC advises you to wash your hands, do not touch your eys, nose or mouth without clean hands ans avoid close contact with sick people.
