For the residents of the Russian city of Chelyabinsk, the morning of Friday, February 15, 2013 began like any other. As they set off to work in what has become a craze throughout Russia, many recorded their journeys, but these cameras usually used for capturing minor traffic incident, were about to record history.

A fireball, brighter than the sun, appeared from nowhere. Before it's exploding with the power of 30 Hiroshimas. A minute later, a shockwave blew in the window of 4,000 buildings across the region. The broken glass are accounting for most of the 1,200 injured.
The people of Chelyabinsk have just experienced the most meteor strike for more than a century.
The meteor that exploded over Chelyabinsk is a spectacular reminder of how exposed our world is. And our earth is just a tiny planet in the vast, violent cosmos. It's also a reminder of powerful impact that these alien rocks can have on the fate of our planet and on us.
