2. Veteran CBS News correspondent Bob Simon was killed in a car crash in New York City on Wednesday night. The 73-year-old Simon had won multiple awards over the years, and covered major events dating back to the Vietnam War. 

3. Oregon governor John Kitzhaber now says he won't resign days after reportedly telling some of his aids that he plans to leave office. The governor has been dealing with an ethic scandal. 

4. And police in Southern California say cardboard left in recycling * is a major target for thieves. People are apparently taking the cardboard and selling it, because it's cheaper than recycled material.
