 A trough over Queensland is generating showers and thunderstorms predominantly over the gulf country and Cape York Peninsula. A second trough over WA and the Northern Territory is also producing thunderstorms. Moist from onshore winds combining with up cool area is triggering showers.

 
Around the country, showers and storms in Queensland, mainly in the tropics and on the ranges, mostly sunny in the south and west. 
 
A cool morning in New South Wales, mostly sunny. A warm day in the south. Very warm in north. Isolated showers about the coast.
 
In Victoria, a cool morning. Mostly sunny. A warm day in the north. Cool in the south with light showers mostly clearing. 
 
Cool in Tasmania with some showers, mainly in the west. The odd light shower in the east.
 
In South Australia, cool in the south with light showers near the coast. Warm in the north and some showers in the far northwest.
 
Showers and storms across the north and interior of Western Australia. Cool and dry in the south. Warm in the west.
 
And in the Northern Territory, some showers and storms in the north, mainly in the Top End. Mostly sunny and warm in the south. 
 
And looking ahead to tomorrow’s forecast for the capitals. A possible shower in Brisbane and Sydney. Partly cloudy in Melbourne, Hobart and Adelaide. Sunny in Perth. And a shower or two in Darwin with the storm likely.
