This is AP News Minute. 1. A bomb exploded at a popular shrine in central Bangkok during evening rush hour Monday. Police say the bomb was made of a pipe wrapped in cloth when it went off in a high-volume tourist and shopping area. Over a dozen were killed and more than 100 were injured. 2. Debris from an airplane with 54 people on board that crashed in the mountains of eastern Indonesia was spotted from the air Monday morning. The plane was also carrying nearly half a million dollars in government cash for poor families when it went down in bad weather. 3. The National Labor Relations Board has overturned the historic ruling that gave Northwestern University football players permission to form the nation’s first college athletes union. The original 2014 ruling said that football players were effectively school employees and entitled to organize. 4. And the authorities say a man known visiting hospitalized children dressed as batman has died in a crash in Maryland. Police say the 51-year-old Maryland native was checking the engine on his bat mobile, and the car was hit by a passing vehicle. |
