【英语时差8,16】令人一头雾水的「偷天密码」(在线收听

In the crime thriller "The Code," veteran thief Keith Ripley (Morgan Freeman) recruits younger crook Gabriel Martin (Antonio Banderas) to help him pull off a heist in order to repay a debt to the Russian mob.

Radha Mitchell plays the role of Alex, Ripley's goddaughter. She develops a romantic liaison with Gabriel that creates friction between the thieves, who form a bond despite their frequent squabbles.

Ripley has no shortage of cool gadgets and high-tech spying and thieving devices-the sign of every well-to-do crook -which builds anticipation for a truly outstanding heist.

The actual robbery scene, however, is not entirely plausible. How Ripley and Gabriel manage to sneak in a code-cracking instrument the size of a construction drill is beyond comprehension. And why they still had to guess what seem to have been dozens of code combinations to open the vault makes their effort in sneaking in the heavy gizmo even more pointless.

The audience gets some comic relief as we see Gabriel using his gloved fingers to slide himself ever so lightly across the floor of a heavily alarmed vault while laying flat atop a rolling board. Surely a cooler entrance would have been warranted to steal the world's most precious jewels.

While not the most brilliant heist film, the combination of Freeman and Banderas still makes it enjoyable.
