 W:Are British people really less open about their salaries? M:Well, let's find out! I've invited some of our BBC Learning English colleagues up here to the studio today. And when they arrive let's just ask them how much they earn. And we'll see how they react. Well the first person we're expecting is Diarmuid. And I think he's just waiting outside. There he is... Why is it you don't want to talk about it? Diarmuid: Well one reason not to talk about it with colleagues is because it might make us feel jealous or resentful to each other if one earns more or less than the other. So that's why I don't want to tell you guys in case I earn more money than you or worse, you earn more money than me. So that's the reason I wouldn't talk about it with my colleagues.
