So who are the Pakistani Taliban, or TTP as they are known in Pakistan? For one, they are not the Afgan Taliban. They are separatists. Afgan Taliban focus principally on attacking international security forces, including US forces and driving them out of the country. Pakistani Taliban focused on attacking Pakistani government, bring it down and establishing Sharia law in the country. To that end they have been responsible for some of the most terrific terrorist attacks in Pakistan, attack on a market in 2009 that killed more than a hundred people and an attack on a church in 2013 that killed more than eighty people, the assassination of the former Prime Minister as well as the shooting of the recent Nobel Prize winner. The Pakistani Taliban has also attacked Americans and American interests. In 2009 a suicide bombing that killed seven CIA officers in eastern Afganistan.In 2010,the failed bombing inside Time Square in New York traced back to the Pakistani Taliban. And following the killing of Bin Ladin by US forces in Pakistan, the TTP leader,the Pakistani Taliban leader called for attacks on Americans inside America and the US attacked back.
