Head of China's Supreme People's Court, Zhou Qiang, says the country's courts at various levels handled a total of 1.42 million cases involving private lending in 2015. Zhou said while delivering a work report to the third plenary meeting of the NPC session that the cases involved 820 billion yuan, or 126 billion US dollars. He added the courts correctly recognized the differences between private lending and illegal fund-raising. The courts concluded 58 thousand cases involving illegal fund-raising, financial fraud and other crimes, and convicted 72 thousand criminals.
