CCTV9英语新闻:China-UK documentary on Spring-Festival customs(在线收听

While Chinese people bask in the afterglow of Lunar-New-Year celebrations, a BBC documentary - entitled "Chinese New Year, the Biggest Celebration on Earth" - is coming to CCTV's documentary channel. It reflects the growing global recognition of the festival.

The TV documentary - a joint production between the U.K. and China - is the largest and most in-depth chronicle of Spring Festival by foreign media, and received high praise when it was first broadcast on the BBC.

The documentary follows four presenters - including BBC host Kate Humble - visiting various places in China to experience Spring-Festival culture.

Starting from this Saturday, "Chinese New Year, the Biggest Celebration on Earth" will be aired on CCTV at 8pm over three consecutive nights.

The three parts are titled: "Going Home"; "Reunion"; and "Celebrations".

"Going Home" follows people from all walks of life returning to their hometowns by train, airplane, and even motorcycle.

"Reunion" centers on various customs like making dumplings, hanging up poetry couplets, and lighting fireworks.

And "Celebrations" is about holiday feasts and performances such as dragon-and lion-dancing.

The documentary conveys the strong family attachments among the Chinese people and pride in their traditional culture.
