Japan is expected to enact its new security law on Tuesday. China's Foreign Ministry spokesman Hong Lei says China hopes Tokyo could act in a prudent manner, and contribute more to regional peace and stability.

"Asian neighbors and the international community are concerned about this issue for historic reasons. With regard to Japan's moves in military and security affairs, we hope that the Japanese side would earnestly draw lessons from history, stick to the path of peaceful development, prudently handle its military and security policies, as well as do more to enhance mutual trust with its neighboring countries, and contribute to peace and stability in the region," he said.
