China Fashion Week is in full swing in Beijing. Themed ‘Design-Plus,’ the event is promoting fashion innovation, and that includes the jewelry of designer Zheng Rui.

Chinese art jewelry brand HMR is setting out to embody the soul of Chinese culture and history in its designs, creating pieces of timeless appeal. Brand founder Ms. Zheng Rui, explains the concept.

"I wanted to create a collection beyond luxury. It will have artistic elements that can be appreciated today and for a long time in the future,” Zheng said.

"It will be a Chinese brand in dialogue with Western culture, creating common understanding through the jewelry's extraordinary beauty and craftsmanship.”

The fusion of Eastern and Western elements is apparent in the materials her design team use—the Chinese ingredients of jade, pearl, and coral, combined with the Western emphasis on gold and diamonds.

"Chinese culture is rich, deep, and insightful because of our 5,000 years of history. Our collection is richly imbued with references to Chinese philosophy, poetry, and artistic elements,” said designer Wu Qiang.

"When Chinese cultural elements are incorporated into jewelry, we can constantly produce surprises.”

In this era of heightened cultural exchange, even jewelry has a part to play.
