2016年CRI Chinese Students in Washington DC Join in D-strong Campaign(在线收听

"Dorian, we all know you. We love you. Stay strong!"

The sincere wish came from a dozen Chinese children at the Sunshine School of the Chinese Embassy to the United States and Chinese Ambassador Cui Tiankai.

They made the wishes in front of the diplomatic mission in Washington D.C.

Dorian Murray, an 8-year-old American boy who has been fighting a serious type of pediatric cancer for more than 4 years, has recently chosen to stop treatment and is living his final days.

His final wish was posted on Facebook by his parents - he wants to be famous in China and see the Great Wall, or, in his own words, "the bridge" that people walk on. As he wished, he has become famous online, and many Chinese went to the Great Wall carrying signs with the hashtag "D-Strong" and wished Dorian well through videos and photos.

Children at the Sunshine School drew a huge dragon carrying the Great Wall on its back, and with the D-strong hashtag.

"Hi, Dorian. I'm Wilson. I know you from my mom's iPhone. The Great Wall of China is really cool. So stay strong and get well. We two can climb the Great Wall together."

Wilson Wang, a Chinese boy who is the same age of Dorian, feels deeply sorry for Dorian's suffering.

"I hope he can get better and he doesn't die."

Yoyo Liu explains the class' drawing:

"Because Dorian wants to go to see the Great Wall, so there's a Great Wall on that drawing. The dragon stands for China."

"He's battling cancer and he has this dream, and we can help him by sending him the pictures about the Great Wall and that's what we did."

Dorian's story touched these children. Pan Yufei is one of them.

"I think he is very positive, because he always smiles in those pictures online."

"I want to tell Dorian to keep fighting. Miracles can happen. He could make it to the Great Wall someday. I want to be as brave as he is."

Qi Mutong thinks the D-Strong support from the people is meaningful:

"Even if he cannot make it to the Great Wall, we can help him see it and other parts of China. I hope our love and compassion can be passed on like a baton. With united efforts we can even help him see the whole world."

A greeting card and a picture book of the Great Wall were sent to Dorian on behalf of the Ambassador, Cui Tiankai.

The ambassador says he was deeply touched by the little boy and he hopes that Dorian will beat the cancer and fulfill his dream by himself.

The children's drawing as well as a toy panda will go to Dorian after the event.
