中国援助物资运抵西非埃博拉疫区 伊拉克总统指派新总理人选

Medical aid from China has arrived in Guinea, Sierra Leone and Liberia, to help with the fight against an Ebola outbreak.

The aid materials brought by a chartered flight include personal protective gear, gloves and glasses, as well as chlorine and medicines.

Chinese disease control experts are also heading to the region.

Chinese President Xi Jinping has sent messages to several West African leaders, expressing his sympathy for losses caused by the Ebola outbreak.

The Ebola virus has killed over 900 people and affected almost 1,800 others this year in West Africa.

Iraq's president has nominated parliament's deputy speaker, Haider al-Abadi, as the new prime minister to succeed Nouri al-Maliki.

President Fouad Massoum has given Abadi 30 days to form a new government and present it to parliament for approval.

The United Nations, European Union, and U.S. have all welcomed the nomination of the new prime minister.

But the incumbent PM al-Maliki has rejected the nomination, stressing his intention to run for a third term in office.
