Iraq's new government has been sworn in as the country seeks to tackle Islamic State militants.

The parliament approved the new government headed by Haider al-Abadi, a moderate Shiite, as prime minister.

Abadi has included members of Iraq's Shia majority, and Kurdish and Sunni minorities as well, in his cabinet.

But the interior and defense ministers have not been named this time.

Abadi's predecessor, Nouri al-Maliki, was forced to resign last month, as the Sunni and Kurdish communities accused his administration of pursuing sectarian policies.

The US had urged Iraq to form an inclusive government with Sunni representation, describing this as a condition for further military support against the IS.

The World Health Organization is warning that the ebola virus is spreading exponentially in Liberia.

WHO says the West African country is likely to see some thousands of new cases in the coming weeks.

So far 14 out of Liberia's 15 counties have reported confirmed cases.

Liberia is the worst-hit country with nearly 1,100 death reported in six months.

Another 1,000 people were killed by the virus in Guinea, Sierra Leone and Nigeria so far this year.
