Typhoon Fung-Wong has made landfall in east China's Zhejiang Province, bringing strong winds and rains.

The typhoon landed in coastal areas of Xiangshan County of the port city of Ningbo last night.

So far, the typhoon-triggered rain has flooded around 8,000 hectares of cropland in Xiangshan.

Over 250,000 people have been evacuated from their homes.

Over 3000 soldiers and rescue workers have been dispatched to the affected areas for relief work.

Typhoon Fung-Wong is expected to hit Shanghai this afternoon.

Local authorities are on standby to prevent rain-triggered floods

China is calling on the global community to join together to fight terrorism, following a number of explosions in Xinjiang that killed at least two people and injured many others.

The explosions in Xinjiang happened on Sunday afternoon in at least three locations.

Similar violence in the past has been blamed on militants from the East Turkestan Islamic Movement.

Recent reports also indicate that four Uygur people from Xinjiang with fake Turkish passports, allegedly seeking terrorist training, have been arrested in Indonesia.

The Chinese Foreign Ministry says details of the incident are still being verified.
