Chinese Premier Li Keqiang says China's economy is still within a "reasonable range."

The Premier has made the statement following Tuesday's release of this country's 3rd quarter GDP figures.

Growth through the latest quarter has come in at 7.3-percent, putting China's overall growth level for the year at 7.4-percent.

The Chinese leadership has repeatedly said the slowdown in GDP growth should allow the government more space to make broader structural adjustments to the economy.

After close to a month of protests, the Hong Kong government and student representatives have sat down for a formal meeting to try to bring the demonstrations to an end.

Hong Kong Chief Secretary Carrie Lam says the SAR government respects the students' persistence in their pursuit of democracy, but they need to approach their goals in a legal, fair and reasonable manner.

The Hong Kong government also says it is considering making a report to the central government to reflect what has happened in Hong Kong over the past few weeks.

Tuesday's meeting comes on the heels of another uptick in violence over the weekend, which saw demonstrators clash with police, leaving dozens of people injured.
