The list includes some names that had been released before, including former vice chairman of the Central Military Commission Xu Caihou, the most senior military leader to be probed for corruption since 1949.

It also reveals some new names, including Liu Zheng, deputy head of the PLA's General Logistics Department.

Among the 16, one has been convicted already, and sentenced to life imprisonment. Nine others will see their cases handled through the military prosecuting office.

Judicial authorities from China and the United States are curfently meeting in Beijing to discuss cooperation in the hunt for fugitives and the recovery of stolen assets.

Representatives from the U.S. Justice Department and the Treasury Department's Internal Revenue Service are attending the discussions.
