Lion dancing, a cheongsam show, Chinese zither playing, and of course, the indispensable Chinese cuisine.

The Gala held in the University of Zimbabwe to celebrate the Chinese New Year has gathered a thousand Chinese in Zimbabwe, giving them a taste of home and r?eminding them of the motherland.

Acting Chinese ambassador to Zimbabwe Zhao Baogang says this is a time to review the past and look into the future.

Zhao says the past year has witnessed the huge progress in the development of bilateral relations between China and Zimbabwe.

"The China-Zimbabwe friendship entered a new era in 2018. The top leaders of the two countries held official talks twice. The bilateral relationship was elevated to the status of Comprehensive Strategic Partnership of Cooperation. A number of Chinese assisted projects in Zimbabwe were completed or launched. The relationship between China and Zimbabwe has become a banner of the relations between China and other African countries."

He calls on the Chinese community to make continuous efforts to promote bilateral ties.

The event has also attracted many local Zimbabweans.

Dorcas Nyika says the event help local people to better understand China.

"I think it's a good event. Especially for Zibabweans, they are learning the Chinese culture and everything. And get to understand the Chinese culture and even the language."

津巴布韦大学举行了一场庆祝中国新年的庙会，1000名中国人欢聚一堂，回味家乡的味道、共诉乡情。

中国驻津巴布韦临时代办赵宝钢表示，这是回顾过去、展望未来的好时机。

赵宝钢说，去年中国与津巴布韦的双边关系取得巨大进展。

“回顾2108年，中津友谊进入新阶段。两国首脑举行了两次正式会谈。双边关系提升为全面战略合作伙伴关系。中国援助津巴布韦的一系列项目或完成或开工。同时，中津关系也成为中国和非洲其他国家关系的旗帜。”

他勉励在津华侨华人继续推动中津关系实现大发展。

这次的晚会也吸引了许多津巴布韦人。

多卡斯·尼卡说，这一活动有助于当地人更好地了解中国。

“我认为这是一个非常好的活动。特别是对津巴布韦人来说，因为他们正在了解中国文化。通过这个晚会，大家能够更好地了解中国文化和中文。”
