The president of Zimbabwe, Robert Mugabe has accused the opposition Movement for Democratic Change of lying about political violence ahead of next week's presidential run-off election. He also said that only God could remove him from office. Here is our Southern Africa correspondent Peter Biles.

Despite increasing evidence of state-sponsoring political violence in Zimbabwe, President Mugabe is trying to blame it on the Opposition. While campaigning in the provinces of Matabeleland, Mr Mugabe accused Morgan Tsvangirai's MDC Party of compiling names of people who were said to be victims of violence. According to the state-run Herald Newspaper, Mr Mugabe said the Opposition was doing this so it could later say the elections were not free and fair.

The MDC will decide on Monday whether its leader Morgan Tsvangirai will contest next week's presidential run-off.
