英国新闻听力 印共重申反对印美核协议(在线收听

A group of left wing and Communist Parties in India said that they are withdrawing support for the government, in protest to the Civilian Nuclear Energy Deal with United States. The announcement is expected to lead to a parliamentary vote of confidence in the government. Alan Johnston of our south Asia desk reports.

The government argues that the nuclear deal is vitally important to India. It seized the agreement as the means of securing the energy that the country needs to fuel its rapid economic development. The Communist Parties, on the other hand, bitterly opposed a forging of such a major partnership with America, they've now withdrawn their backing from the government, but it will hope to survive, thanks to a new alliance, that is struck with one of the country's regional parties.
