Cyclone Debbie is carving a path across the north Queensland coast having made landfall near Airlie beach about two hours ago. The category three system has winds of up to 260 kilometres an hour. A man has been taken to hospital after a wall fell on him in Proserpine. There are also reports of significant property damage.

And minor to moderate flood levels are possible on the Pioneer river in Mackay.
