Steroids reduce inflammation, which sometimes develops in coronavirus patients as the immune system overreacts to fight the infection.

The overreaction damages the lungs and can prove fatal.

A Twitter account linked to Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi's personal website appears to have been hacked.

A series of tweets requesting that followers donate to a relief fund through cryptocurrency was posted on Thursday.

The messages were later removed.
