2. Republican members of the House walked out en masse today. They are trying to force Democrats to vote on a Senate bill that would extend the government's ability to eavesdrop on suspected terrorists. The current law is set to expire this weekend.

3. John McCain is getting a boost from a former rival. Mitt Romney who recently dropped out of the race for the Republican nomination is now backing McCain's bid. He's also asking his 280 convention delegates to support the Arizona Senator.

4. Parents may wanna get in line now. Fisher-Price has introduced a new Elmo doll. It's described as groundbreaking. Toy insiders say this one is more than your regular plush toy, but it's also interactive and certain to get a laugh out of whoever plays with it.
