In today's podcast, a court declares a man named Qoysiletu wrongly convicted of the rape and murder of a woman in a public toilet in Hohhot nearly two decades after his execution.

On December 15, the Inner Mongolia Higher People's Court reversed a ruling on charges of rape and murder for which a young man was sentenced to death 18 years ago.

Parents of Qoysiletu, who was executed in June 1996, were notified of the ruling which found him not guilty and Zhao Jianping, vice president of the Inner Mongolia Higher People's Court, extended an apology to the family over the egregious mistakes made by law enforcement leading to the young man's execution.Zhao also delivered 30,000 yuan in "condolence money" to the family on behalf of Hu Yifeng, president of the high court, and promised further compensation.Via their lawyer, relatives of Qoysiletu said that the family will continue to press for compensation from the government for the trauma they have endured over theyears.

Qoysiletu, then 18, was convicted on May 23, 1996, for raping and killing a woman inside a toilet at a textile plant in Hohhot.

According to court transcripts, police were able to extract a confession within 48 hours of interrogation,which became the basis of his conviction.Qoysiletu, known also as Hugjiltu, insisted he was innocent, but was executed on June 10, 62 days after the murder.

根据法院的描述，警方能够在抓捕的48小时内让罪犯进行坦白，这也是呼格吉勒被定罪的基础。呼格吉勒一直称自己是清白的，但是还是在杀人案发生的62天后，即7月10日执行了死刑。

The controversial sentencing was again brought under intense public scrutiny nine years later when police captured Zhao Zhihong, a serial rapist and murderer who confessed to several rapes and murders, including the 1996 toilet stall rape-murder in Hohhot.

9年之后，就在警方抓捕了赵志红之后，这一备受关注的判决又一次回到了人们的视野当中，赵志红是系列强奸和杀人的凶手，他称自己实施过多起强奸和杀人，包括1996年在呼和浩特的公共厕所中所实施的强奸和杀人。

Qoysiletu's parents had petitioned to various authorities and media outlets over perceived injustice in his conviction to no avail until last year when Inner Mongolia's High Court completed a review of Qoysiletu's case and concluded it had been mishandled.

呼格吉勒的父母因为不公向各部门和媒体进行了请求，但是于事无补，直到去年，内蒙古法院对呼格吉勒再一次进行了核实，并证实了这一情况。

The case was later referred to Inner Mongolia's party committee and the Supreme People's Court in Beijing,which led to a decision late last month by the region's high court to reopen the case.

之后，这一案件转送到了内蒙古党委以及北京最高人民法院，上个月月末地区法院有了结论，称将重新对此次案件进行审理。
