1.Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice says the U.S. is working with the international community to bring about a durable and sustainable ceasefire between Israelis and Palestinians. Hundreds of people had been killed on the week-long fighting in and around Gaza.

2.Two people close to New York Governor David Paterson tell The Associated Press they believe he will appoint Caroline Kennedy to replace Hillary Clinton in the Senate. Paterson though says the search is still ongoing.

3.British troops have turned over the civilian airport in Basra, Iraq's second largest city to Iraqi officials. Britain says it will withdraw its approximately 4,000 soldiers from Iraq by the end of May.

4.Iceland is getting a little financial help from one of its most famous daughters. Singer Bjork is teaming up with a venture capitalist to raise millions of dollars and helps save the country's economy.
