[00:15.17]He saw the bud that would soon blossom, [00:18.04]but noticed thorns upon the stem and he thought, [00:21.54]"How can any beautiful flower come from a plant burdened with so many sharp thorns?” [00:27.85]Saddened by this thought, he neglected to water the rose, [00:31.83]and just before it was ready to bloom... it died. [00:35.65]So it is with many people. [00:38.09]Within every soul there is a rose. [00:40.71]The God-like qualities planted in us at birth, grow amid the thorns of our faults. [00:46.71]Many of us look at ourselves and see only the thorns, the defects. [00:51.76]We despair, thinking that nothing good can possibly come from us. [00:56.14]We neglect to water the good within us, and eventually it dies. [01:01.08]We never realize our potential. [01:03.70]Some people do not see the rose within themselves; [01:07.23]someone else must show it to them. [01:09.96]One of the greatest gifts a person can possess is to be able to reach past the thorns of another, [01:16.41]and find the rose within them. [01:18.95]This is the characteristic of love... to look at a person and, [01:23.10]knowing his faults,recognize the nobility in his soul, [01:26.74]and help him realize that he can overcome his faults.
