A senior administration official says the president wants clarification about how and when troops would turn over security to the Afghan government. 2. Democratic officials say Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid is considering higher payroll taxes on the wealthy as a way to pay for health care reform. The proposal Reid is considering would raise the Medicare portion of the payroll tax on incomes more than a quarter of a million dollars.

3. A jury in Arkansas must now decide if Curtis Vance should get the death penalty for the beating death of an Arkansas TV anchor. Juries convicted Vance yesterday for the murder and rape of Anne Pressly. Besides the death penalty, juries could choose life in prison without parole.

4. Mike Tyson has been released from a Los Angeles police station after being booked on suspicion of battery for allegedly hitting a photographer at Los Angeles International Airport. The paparazzo said the former heavyweight champ struck him, knocking him down. Tyson's spokeswoman says the former champ acted in self-defence to protect his child.
