 Chinese businessman Tony Jiantong Xia bought English soccer club Aston Villa¹ for a reported 60m pounds last Wednesday.

上周三，我国商人夏建统正式收购了英国足球俱乐部阿斯顿维拉。据报道，收购价格为6000万英镑。

The sale to Xia's Recon Group follows the central England club's relegation² from the Premier³ League after placing last in the 2015-16 season.

在夏建统的联合睿康集团收购这家位于英格兰中部的俱乐部之前，该俱乐部因在2015-16赛季中成绩垫底而从英格兰足球超级联赛降级。

The sale, subject to clearance⁴ by the Premier League and the English Football Association, would see Xia take 100% ownership and become chairman.

Recon Group is a privately⁵ owned holding company that controls five publicly listed companies in Hong Kong and Chinese mainland, which employs 35,000 people in 75 different countries and regions, according to the Aston Villa club's website.

Xia is described as a passionate⁶ football fan who played as a striker while he was at university. Xia's move is the latest in a series of Chinese moves to invest in European soccer clubs.
