The South Australian Liberal senator Lucy Gichuhi says she and other Liberal women were bullied¹ during the recent leadership spill. The Liberal Party's culture has been criticised after Victorian MP Julia Banks announced she will not recontest the next election because of bad behaviour from both major parties. She described some as vindictive² and mean-spirited.

Melbourne scientists say they've found new strains of a drug-resistant⁵ superbug in several hospitals around the world, including in Australia. Researchers from the Doherty Institute in Melbourne say the use of catheters saturated⁶ with antibiotics⁷ may be causing a once benign⁸ bacteria to become resistant to most drugs.
