Is this Legit, the Caribbean nation highlighted on this map is Jamaica. Not true. This is Haiti, which takes up about one third of the island of HY.
Well,yesterday we talked about the
devastation2 Haiti suffered when a powerful earth quake hit the country in 2010.Two years later, things are getting better but as you gonna see in this next report from Johnason Man that the recovery process has been slow.
Haiti has been so poor for so long.It was hard to imagine that things could get much worse. And two years ago that hard to imagine happened.A 7.0 magnitude killed estimated 220,000 people, made 1.5million more people homeless and turned Port-au Princess the capital into a sea of displaced families and
crumbled3 cement.
Isolated4 cases of *turned into a national
epidemic5.Things were bad before.Suddenly,they were
utterly6 broken. The best hope was then in a phrase that Haiti would build back better. Somethings are better. The International community has spent more than 2 billions through they promised twice as much.It helps move more than a million Haitians out of crowds on Senatey Camps. It's build hundreds of kilometers of pages roads.Have a look at this stretch of street. On the left, the after mass of quake. On the right,a look three month ago.
..that UN has built 193 new earth quake-resistance schools. They helped 753 children back to schools and that does't mean that there are challenges that remain. They are huge but there are reasons for opportunism.
But half a million people are still living under tense and .. and Haiti is still a nation where most people don't have running water, toilet, medical care or jobs.About three quarters of the country's workers are
unemployed7 or under employment. It's still Haiti. There is being no happy ending.JM reporting.
Following up the story we first reported on Monday.
