The United States has launched a new barrage1 of airstrikes against Islamic State extremists and is weighing sending more troops to Iraq as world leaders condemn2 the killing3 of American journalist James Foley by the militants4.
It comes after Islamic State released a video purported5 to show the beheading of Foley with threats to kill another American in retaliation6 against the recent U.S. intervention7 in Iraq.
UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon is calling the beheading of the American journalist "an abominable8 crime."

Chinese President Xi Jinping is embarking11 on a two-day visit to Mongolia today.
As part of his time there, a series of economic agreements are expected to be signed.
Trade between China and Mongolia currently sits at around 6-billion US dollars a year.
New deals connected to mining and transportation infrastructure12 are expected.
