3.John McCain says he's ordering changes to the convention. The presumptive Republican nominee⁴ wants it to reflect the seriousness of Hurricane Gustav.

4.Chinese rescue teams are working to reach survivors⁵ of a 6.1 magnitude earthquake. It killed at least 27 people and injured hundreds in Sichuan and Yunnan provinces. China's official news agency says the quake turned tens of thousands of homes into rubble⁶, damaged major bridges and cracked three reservoirs.
