1. Former Israeli president and prime minister Shimon Peres has died at the age of 93. He was hospitalized two weeks ago after a stroke. Peres has been part of Israeli politics almost since the country was founded, and was co-owner of the 1994 Nobel peace prize for his role in Israeli-Palestinian peace talks.

2. A peaceful protest was held in El Cajon, California after the police shot and killed the black man. Police say the man acted radically¹, pulled an object from his pocket and pointed² it at officers. Police acknowledged it was not a weapon.

3. A wildfire in central California Santa Cruz mountains is threatening several hundreds structures. The fire has burned at least 1.5 square miles of rugged³ brush and terrain⁴.

4. And Britain's prince William and Duchess of Kate toured northwest of Canada on Thursday, and a step of a local winery in British Columbia.
