1. Donald Trump1 says he will never abandon his White House bid, rejecting a growing backlash from republican leaders who disavowed the GOP presidential nominee2. The controversy3 comes as Trump was caught on tape bragging4 about predatory advances on women in 2005. He apologized in a video statement and said he was wrong.
2. A weakening hurricane Matthew struck Georgia and Carolina on Saturday in what appears to be the last leg of its march up to the east coast. The hurricane was blamed for at least ten deaths in the U.S and hundreds were left dead in Matthew's wake in Haiti.
3. German authorities on Saturday said a successful control detonation5 was carried out after investigators6 found several hundreds grams of "highly volatile7" explosives in an apartment. Officials say a Syrian man was being sought in connection with planning a bombing attack.
4. A husband and wife from Maine are this year's winner of the North American wife-carrying championship. They will compete in the world championship in Finland next year. Elliot and Giana Storey bested 43 other couples to win the 17th annual competition.
