1. Officials in Tennessee say 13 people have died from a wildfire that ravaged1 the great smoky mountains, including a person appeared to have a heart attack, while fleeing the flames. They also raised the number of homes and businesses that were damaged to nearly 1000.
2. Former NFL player Joe McKnight was shot to death Thursday following an argument at an intersection2 with another motorist outside New Orleans. McKnight who played for the New York Jets and Kansas City Chiefs is the second NFL player this year to die as a result of possible road rage incident.
3. The house of representatives overwhelmingly backed the $360 billion dollars defense3 bill that rejects a member of president Barack Obama's key proposals, including closing the Guantanamo Bay prison. The bill now goes to the senate while a vote is expected early next week.
4. And a lamppost saved the pedestrian in Poland from being hit by a speeding car that became involved in an accident. Surveillance video showed the moment the car collided and the lucky pedestrian escaped.
