1. Inmates1 at a North Texas lockup broke out of a court-held cell to help save a jailer after they saw the armed guard lost consciousness. The surveillance video showed the inmates running from their cell, calling for help for the officers. Medical teams arrived shortly after, the inmates were returned to their cell.
2. A bullfighter was fatally gored2 in Spain after being hit in the thigh3 and chest by a 1166-pound bull. Victor Barrio was pronounced dead by a surgeon at the bullring. Barrio is the first professional matador4 being killed in the ring in more than 3 decades.
3. President Barack Obama met with Spain's King Felipe VI as well as Spain's prime minister Mariano Rajoy. Obama set down with the leaders for meetings but will be cutting his trip short to return to the U.S in wake of the series of deadly shootings.
4. And a village in Russia celebrated5 its national day with a cow dung throwing competition. The winning distance in the men's competition was 152 feet, marking a new record for the festival.
