A 28-year-old candidate who has never held public office stunned¹ the democratic party by beating one of its house leaders. Alexandia Ocasio Cortez defeated Congressman² Joe Crowley of New York, once thought of as a possible future House speaker.

South Carolina Republican Governor Henry McMaster won his primary runoff after getting an endorsement³ from President Trump⁴. And former presidential candidate Mitt⁵ Romney won the republican primary for Utah's Senate seat.

A federal judge has ordered immigration authorities to reunite separated families within thirty days. The ruling follows a lawsuit⁶ from the American Civil Liberties Union.

And a Japanese space probe has arrived at an asteroid⁷ about 170 million miles from Earth. The plan is for the probe to blast a hole in the asteroid, collect samples and bring them back to Earth.
