The Senate Judiciary Committee will begin questioning President Donald Trump's next pick for the Supreme¹ Court on Tuesday. And democrats² are expected to grill³ 53-year-old Brett Kavanaugh on hot button issues that could swing the court's majority rightward.

Tropical storm Gordon is strengthening and should hit the central US gulf⁴ coast as a hurricane late Tuesday. The National Hurricane Center is predicting a life-threatening storm surge.

A powerful typhoon has slammed into western Japan. Strong winds blew a tanker⁵ into a bridge, disrupting land and air travel. Jebi was the strongest typhoon to make landfall in Japan since 1993, and has left at least 2 people dead.

Colin Kaepernick doesn't have a job in the NFL, but has scored a multi-year deal with Nike. A person familiar with the contract says, Nike will feature Kaepernick on several platforms, including billboards⁶, Television commercials and online ads.
