　　While² Ethan was³ in the mountains, he learned⁵ about the wild⁶ animals living⁷ there. 伊桑住在山里的时候，他悉知生活在那里的野生动物。

　　Ethan's brother was Captain⁸ of the rangers⁹ who took¹⁰ care¹¹ of a large forest¹² in the White Mountains. 伊桑的哥哥是护林员的队长，他们主要负责看管怀特山脉里的大片森林。

　　A great many wild animals lived in the forest, and it was part¹³ of the rangers' work to see that no one hurt them. 许多野生动物住在那片森林里，确保没有人伤害野生动物也是护林员们的工作内容之一。

　　Ethan was very proud¹⁴ of his big brother. 伊桑以他的哥哥为骄傲。
